CENTERS MISSION
Building a world where LGBT people thrive as healthy equal and complete members of society.
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Youth Center serves youth up to the age of 24 who are currently atrisk of or experiencing homelessness. The Youth Center offers services in an LGBTQ safe and affirming environment and serves as an entry point to assist youth making the transition from homelessness to housing. Our services include meals clothing support groups a charter high school GED and college prep program an employment preparation training and placement program case management counseling a crisis shelter and a transitional living program (TLP). Our communitybased programs include services for youth athome in school or in systems of care.
JOB SUMMARY: Our internship program aims to prepare individuals for the workforce by providing work readiness financial literacy skills development career coaching and mentoring. Internship placements range from working onsite in our amazing commercial kitchen (Culinary Arts Program) to working the front desk at our Youth Center dropin space and we offer offsite placements with community partners like OUAI cosmetics LA DogWorks Growing Hope Gardens The Center at Blessed Sacrament amongst many others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONs will range depending on placement:
1 Culinary Arts Program: culinary skill building cooking sanitizing station in a commercial kitchen setting
2 Social Service Vocational Training: 4week classroom training twice per week by the 6week you will start working in a social service setting; facilitating groups recruitment for various groups
3 Youth Center dropin space: provide customer service for all youth entering the center space assisting with storing and retrieving youth personal items
4 Residential Team: Facilitate engaging activities with peers and provide cleanliness to residential area.
5 Senior Services: Engage with Seniors that are 50 plus years of age
6 Volunteer Resources: Assist with various Center events
7 Other Departments: Video production Youth Advisory Council OffSite Business Partners.
