Your Impact
As a senior engineer on the team you will be intimately involved in the architecture decisions that will shape this product. You live and breathe cloud services that require high availability and fast consistent performance. You love working with the latest open source technologies and can leverage your system design skills to make the right technical decisions on a system that needs to be bulletproof.
Not only can you drive decisions among competing engineering tradeoffs your empathy with customers allows you to intuit innovative solutions for our customer problems. You will be working closely with product managers and designers to ensure we are building the right solution for our customers. You also enjoy mentoring other engineers and love to be a handson teacher helping to up level the engineers around you.

What Youll Do
Location: Work from home as much as you want live nearby any of our awesome US R&D Hubs (Seattle Scottsdale Atlanta or Boston) so you can easily collab inperson when its helpful and be an active part of our vibrant Axon culture.

Direct Reports:None
- Lead engineering architecture design reviews
- Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
- Mentoring engineers
- Working across teams with Product Design and Engineering to solve some of our biggest technical challenges within our stack for our customers
- Improve our Engineering process including longterm thinking sprint planning and standups
- Building services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this missioncritical space
- Working with the latest open source technologies
What You Bring
- 8 years of experience in software engineering
- Experience building complex and impactful software in a team environment
- Deep skill in driving technical solutions across multiple teams
- Backend service experience in managed languages such as Java Scala Go C# or similar
- Strong experience with database especially SQL and Cassandra
- Experience building out cloud architecture in Azure and/or AWS
- Azure to AWS migration experience
- Experience designing and delivering highavailability scalable cloudbased systems
- You write beautiful simple maintainable code for backend microservices
- Interest in helping to set the technical and organizational direction for a growing engineering team across multiple US locations

The Pay:Axon is a total compensation company meaning compensation is made up of base pay bonus and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 162825 in the lowest geographic market and USD 260520 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors such as: level function training transferable skills work experience business needs geographic market and often a combination of all these factors.
