BCTLLC is seeking a Software Engineer (TS/SCI with POLY) with High Performance Computing experience to design develop test deploy document maintain and enhance complex and diverse software for HPC (high performance computing) systems based upon documented requirements. This position is located in Annapolis Junction MD
Critical for this role is either a very strong math background and/or a very strong computer hardware background in order to be able to understand the intricacies of the HPC architecture that is being targeted by the software being developed or to understand the complex mathematical principles which underlie the software applications being developed. The HPC systems might include but are not limited to processingintensive analytics novel algorithm development manipulation of extremely large data sets realtime systems and systems which incorporate data repositories data transport services and application and systems development and monitoring. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software tradeoffs software reuse use of Open Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial OffTheShelf (COTS)/Government OffThe Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. Working knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementation.
Standard DaytoDay
- Define develops tests and deploys components of the solution
- Works with an Agile team to create and refine user stories and acceptance
- Collaborates with other team member to build and test software and hardware components
- Participate in daily standup/scrums meetings
- Conduct research prototyping and exploration activities
- Develops maintains and enhances complex and diverse infrastructure as code (IaC) for largescale computing systems
- Works with installation configuration testing and operational management of system solution
Required Skills/Experience
- Linux Linux tools
- Infrastructure automation technology: Ansible SaltStack Puppet Chef Terraform etc.
- Willing and able to learn Ansible
- Adapting to and adhering to projectspecific Ansible coding standards
- Familiar with and able to perform full softwaredevelopment lifecycle support with versioncontrol tools (Git GitLab)
- Works independently as well as with a team to ensure that all components are functioning properly
- Stays abreast of the latest industry trends in both open source and commercial solutions. Supports determination of ifandwhen to incorporate them into an IAC solution
- Communicative collaborative and organized
- Willing and able to learn new tools protocols custom software firmware and hardware
