Required Degree: A doctoral degree in electrical engineering computer engineering cybersecurity computer science or a closely related discipline is required.

Duties/Expectations:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks highly qualified candidates for multiple tenure track professorial positions. Qualified candidates must demonstrate an eagerness to fully support and participate in the ideals and mission of BYU. Successful applicants will be expected to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels develop a strong externally funded research program and participate in citizenship and administrative duties both to their academic societies and at BYU. Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience.

Background:

We seek highlyqualified applicants in cybersecurity (all areas) computer engineering (all areas) electrical engineering (all areas).

The department has stateoftheart facilities in computing and supercomputing computer vision optics microelectronic fabrication unmanned aircraft systems and underwater vehicles. Excellent research programs exist in the department in the areas of FPGAbased computing highperformance embedded systems autonomous vehicles and control robotics and computer vision highspeed lowpower electronics digital communications systems signal processing biomedical imaging optics and microfluidics. Successful candidates will be expected to strengthen undergraduate and graduate education and to develop an outstanding research program to complement existing research or to develop new research areas.

The department offers BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering and Cybersecurity and a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Cybersecurity BS degree has been designated an NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense for over 8 years. BYU students come from all 50 states in the U.S. and the National Survey of Student Engagement placed BYU in the 93rd percentile for level of academic challenge 91st percentile in fostering active and collaborative learning and 99th percentile in providing a supportive campus environment. The ACT score for the average entering freshman is above the 90th percentile nationally. BYU is also fifth on the list of U.S. baccalaureateorigin institutions for engineering doctorate recipients. Our students have an exceptional amount of experience in leadership and global settings (the majority of graduating seniors speak a second language and/or have lived in a foreign country for over a year) making them well poised to become global leaders. We expect our faculty to challenge these outstanding students to reach their potential through excellent teaching mentoring and research.
