Volunteer Job Title: Administrative Assistant Religious Education Status: Part Time 12 hours/week
Department/Location: Religious Education/Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church / Maricopa Arizona
Primary Function: Under the direction of the Director of Religious Education and/or Pastor is responsible for assisting with the coordination of the Religious Education Program and performing a variety of administrative support duties. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received. (Eph. 4:1
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this Ministerial Position:
- Perform in support of the Church and the dioceses spiritual and pastoral mission.
- Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employees professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures
- Assist DRE in administering Religious Education program to include program coordination assign catechists and volunteers and keeping sacramental records.
- Provide administrative and wordprocessing support; copies of materials; handle accurate filing of documents as requested
- Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when something is unclear.
- Ability to prioritize and work independently.
- Schedule or assist in scheduling DRE appointments and Parent Meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality physical and information security at all times.
- Inventory and stock Religious Education supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal education and office environment.
Required Activities: Walking; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling; hearing; carrying; and keyboarding.
Basic Qualifications: - Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; be in full communion with the Church.
- Excellent communications skills verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Exercise courtesy to fellow employees parishioners and the public
- Must be a selfstarter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times; weekend and overtime work may be required.
- Proficiency in computer technology to include wordprocessing spreadsheets and power point.
- Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance.
- Ability to successfully pass a background and criminal history check.
Education and Experience: - Must be at least 18 years old.
Other/Preferred Skills: - Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
