Cleaning and Sanitation:
Clean dishes utensils glassware and cookware.
Wash kitchen equipment including stoves ovens refrigerators and food preparation areas.
Ensure that all kitchen surfaces (countertops floors walls) are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
Clean and sanitize trash bins and ensure proper disposal of waste.
Dishwashing:
Operate dishwashing machines scrub pots and pans and ensure all dishes are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
Organize dishes and utensils after theyve been washed ensuring they are stored properly.
Storage and Inventory:
Help organize and maintain food storage areas (refrigerators freezers dry storage).
Assist with inventory control by noting supplies used and helping reorder items.
Keep track of cleaning supplies and ensure they are stocked.
Assisting the Kitchen Staff:
Support chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation by cleaning peeling chopping or prepping ingredients.
Help with organizing and setting up workstations for food preparation.
Maintaining Kitchen Equipment:
Assist in ensuring that all kitchen equipment is functioning properly.
Report any malfunctioning equipment to the kitchen manager or supervisor.
Safety and Health Compliance:
Follow safety and hygiene guidelines to prevent contamination or accidents.
Maintain proper handling of cleaning chemicals and ensure their safe storage.
Ensure the kitchen meets local health department regulations.
Cleaning Restrooms and Other Common Areas (if required):
In some cases stewards may be responsible for cleaning restrooms hallways and other common areas of the restaurant or hotel.
