What youll do:
- Leadership and Team Development: Foster a highperforming accountable team culture through leadership development performance management and succession planning while ensuring clear communication of vision values and goals to drive employee engagement and organizational success.
- Business and Operational Planning: Participate in Business Unit strategic planning to establish and renew multiyear plans. Lead the annual operational planning for the refinery ensuring alignment to Business Unit strategic plans and the longterm goals of the organization. Guide the development of the annual refinery budget including production volumes operating costs and capital plans.
- Health Safety and Environment: Promote and sustain a strong safety culture ensuring effective risk management through the implementation of the Operational Excellence Management system. Ensure compliance with both internal standards and external regulations. Lead emergency preparedness and incident management ensuring these are maintained to industry best practices.
- Production: Ensure production objectives product quality specifications and safe reliable operating results are achieved. Maintain focus on optimizing hydrocarbon yields catalyst performance and energy use ensuring continual performance improvement in these areas as measured through internal and external benchmarking.
- Economic Optimization and Business Performance: Drive refinery profitability through the selection of optimum feedstock and operating scenarios to best meet production objectives inventory targets and sales plans. Guide the determination of incremental economic opportunities to maximize profitability. Ensure management system use to drive achievement and continuous improvement of business performance.
- Asset Availability and Maintenance Management: Ensure high asset availability through effective maintenance strategies including multiyear planning for turnarounds. Ensure the establishment and use of a management system for maintenance performance monitoring and advancement of maintenance efficiency as per industry benchmarks.
- Capital Project Delivery: Oversee the capital projects portfolio ensuring projects meet the safety regulatory and operational requirements of the refinery while staying within the established budget.
Who youll work with:
The Team: You will oversee all refinery operations with 7 direct reports in the areas of Process Operations Maintenance & Reliability and HSE. Indirect reports will include 900 management and unionized employees.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in operational leadership and:
- Have 20 years of experience in a petroleum refinery upgrader or petrochemical plant with 8 years of progressively responsible leadership experience.
- Have a bachelors degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field. Advanced training in leadership finance and Incident Command Training would be an asset. P. Eng membership or eligibility for membership is preferred (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
- Are familiar with the key functions of refinery operations such as Process Operations Maintenance & Reliability Process & Occupational Safety Engineering and Planning & Economics.
