The RoleWe are seeking a Finance Officer to manage the finances of our India Sales office; this is a broad role including Accounting Accounts Payable Account Receivable also cash flow management and Credit Control. The role will work closely with the clientslocal HR Manager and their external accountants for payroll and Compliance (VAT Tax etc) and to ensure the local statutory filings including statutory accounts and all taxes are completed accurately and to statutory deadlines.
The role will also ensure that costs are correctly reported to the relevant stakeholders who comprise the Regional Director fellow Group businesses and Universities that have staff employed by the India company.
The role will report to the UKbased Finance Manager with local reporting lines to the Regional Director of ISC.
The roles specific duties and responsibilities will include:Daytoday administration- Processing supplier invoices to ensure payment terms are met and the invoices are coded correctly between business units and to the correct account code.
- Managing cashflow
- Raising sales invoices to university partners or fellow group companies
- Managing staff expense returns including expense checking and accounting
- Recording daytoday financial transactions. In addition to recording purchase and sales invoices this will include posting bank payments and receipts.
Monthly Accounting- Work with external accountants to ensure a robust monthly close. This will include performing accounting to trial balance stage which will also require accounting for Prepayments Accruals fixed assets depreciation and intercompany transactions payroll and Compliance
- Ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and postings are reviewed in the general ledger.
- Enter the salary journal each month after the payroll has been processed
- Ensure bank reconciliations are performed monthly for bank accounts petty cash and credit card accounts.
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Account for taxes with the support of our external accountant.
Statutory filings- Be responsible for ensuring that the external accountant will prepare all necessary filings including all tax (income tax payroll taxes sales taxes etc) and that all necessary tax is paid.
- Be responsible for ensuring that the annual statutory accounts are prepared and reconciled to the Trial Balances maintained in the Group Accounting system
Administration- Maintain records of all contracts and leases.
- Ensure all intercompany and University relationships are supported with valid contracts
- Other office administration duties as required
Candidate Profile:- Have a good knowledge and experience of accounting and financial administration processes
- Be highly organized and methodical with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent Excel skills and good experience with accounting systems (Great Plains experience an advantage)
