At Cohere we are languageobsessed we believe that great writers are indispensable to our company and product. We are on a mission to build machines that understand the world and make them safely accessible to all. Data quality is foundational to this process. Machines or Large Language Models to be exact learn in similar ways to humans by way of feedback.

Please Note: This is a parttime independent contractor position based remotely or in Coheres Toronto office. We are looking for candidates who are able to commit to roughly 20 hours per week although there is flexibility to take on additional hours if interested. This is an independent contractor position and is BYOD Bring Your Own Device (laptop).

On this project you will:

• Spend the majority of your time writing reading/proofreading code or rating text to create perfect writing samples to train our data models

• Label proofread and improve machinewritten and humanwritten texts

• Raise the bar continually by writing fresh copy that is of exceptional quality on a variety of topics

• Follow our style guide and make recommendations on unique situations that fall outside of its scope

• Work with intense attention to detail while citing sources of information

You might be a good fit if you are:

• A quick thorough creative coder. You have an uncanny knack for creating clean elegant solutions (and maybe youve done so professionally before). You also are the type who can skillfully distill complex ideas into readable digestible code and code descriptions

• A thoughtful and thorough PR reviewer. Youve spent time proofreading and giving feedback on others code. Youve improved others code quality.

• A fast thorough reader with great comprehension skills

• Expert webbased research skills that youve used for your code before

• Ability to follow complex instructions navigate ambiguity and work independently in a remote or hybrid environment

The Candidate Journey:

• Initial Screening Once you have submitted your application our Talent Team will review your resume and writing samples.

• Virtual Meet & Greet If selected to move forward you will have a short video call with a member of our Annotation Army!

• Practical Assessment This assignment will test your code skills through a hackerrank test.

• Offer Independent Contractor Agreement
