The Counselor is accountable for providing patients and their families with the accurate diagnosis appropriate assessment counseling and assistance; maintaining good relationships with patients patients families medical staff and other personnel within the medical complex and with outside organizations with whom the counselor is in contact; maintaining confidentiality of patient information; establishing an effective working relationship with other treatment team members; accurate documentation in the progress notes and treatment plan.
Counselor I or II
Counselor I Bachelor degree from an accredited school or educational program. Counselors must meet training experience and continuing education requirements necessary for the patient population for which services are provided. Counselors providing adolescent services and family counselors must meet training requirements or training will be provided. Preferred: Bachelors degree in alcohol and drug studies or related field. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).
Counselor II Two years experience as a counselor in either inpatient or outpatient addiction treatment programs. Bachelors degree in social work psychology addiction studies or other related field required. Masters degree in social work psychology or other related field preferred.
Experience with DSM 5 diagnostic criteria is preferred.
Licensure as an LADC required.
