Our AM&M Rail Fleet Engineering Office is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Engineering Lead to manage electrical systems and components within our diesel locomotive fleet overhauls and refurbishments. This is a pivotal position within our organization responsible for building engineering capabilities that will optimize our growing fleets safety reliability and performance. Youll have the unique opportunity to shape the future of rail transportation in the Greater Toronto Area!

What will I be doing
  • As the Senior Engineering Lead for Locomotive Electrical you will oversee the overhaul and refurbishment of the diesel locomotive fleet including review and approval all designs and modifications related to locomotive electrical systems and components.
  • Mentor train and develop a highly skilled team of electrical engineers focused on locomotive engine overhaul including EMD 710 and Cummins QSK series electrical systems. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment where engineers can learn from each other and achieve their full potential.
  • Act as the central point for design modification and configuration management of rail vehicle electrical systems and components. Provide technical direction and oversight to ensure all design activities comply with regulatory requirements and Metrolinx s engineering standards.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting rootcause analysis and technical guidance throughout all stages of vehicle and engine. Analyze engineering data identify design issues and develop effective solutions to improve vehicle performance and reliability.
  • Work effectively with internal stakeholders (maintenance operations procurement) and external partners (OEMs suppliers) to ensure design excellence. Build strong relationships and foster open communication to ensure all parties are aligned with project goals and technical requirements.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Technical Leadership: A highly skilled electrical engineer/technician with practical and handson indepth technical knowledge essential to overseeing heavy overhaul and refurbishment of locomotives and diesel engines electrical systems subsystems and components.
  • Quality and Compliance Assurance: Lead quality control and ensure regulatory compliance minimizing the risk of project delays due to rework or noncompliance penalties.
  • Project Management: Manage the schedule and look for continuous improvement of production throughput scope and risks and issues.
  • University Degree: in Electrical Engineering or equivalent locomotivespecific experience.
  • Standards and Regulations: Knowledge of Canadian and North American rail specific standards and regulations.
  • Mentoring: The ability to mentor junior engineers for knowledge retention and succession management would be useful.
