Are you obsessed with social media Are you just as comfortable in front of the camera as you are behind the scenes Do you want to help the Nugget share news and entertainment with the student body
Join the Nugget as the Social Media Manager. The Nugget is NAITs student news; our job is to report whats happening on campus and share the student voice. Youll be responsible for creating content that captures the spirit of articles making videos that resonate and managing our comment sections. The ideal candidate will be familiar with managing multiple social media channels and have a passion for media journalism or student outreach.
What youll do:
- Create original content: Develop plan and create content for all of the Nuggets social media channels. Youll be given some brand guidelines to reference but we want you to get creative!
- Manage our voice: Youll interact with our audience and monitory our online engagement while upholding the Nugget spirit. You will also need to collaborate with the editing team to ensure their stories are being accurately portrayed.
- Brainstorm new ideas: The Nugget is evolving so youll need to bring your ideas to the table. Want to join a new platform Got a great idea for a TikTok or Instagram Reel Found a new way to beat the algorithm We want to hear it!
- Turn print content digital:The Social Media Manager needs to be comfortable in front of the camera; working in collaboration with the Video Editor and Digital Content Creator the Social Media Manager will work to recap articles turning them from written word into easytodigest video or graphic content.
This might be the job for you if:
- Youve got the gift of gab. If someone has ever told you that you have a way with words youre in the right place. Youll be the voice of the Nugget online so you need to be confident in your communication skills.
- Youre a current NAIT student enrolled in classes from September 2025April 2026. This is a parttime salary position that begins August 1 2025 and ends April 15 2026. You must be enrolled in classes in both the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 terms to be eligible. The salary for this position is $500/month.
- Youre organized and reliable. You believe consistency is key and you have no trouble juggling multiple tasks and deadlines. There are a lot of moving parts to a media machine so we need someone that is adaptable.
- Youre a social media fanatic. You understand the type of content needed for each platform and have the tools to create it. The Nugget currently focused on Instagram and TikTok as their main channels.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of relevant platforms and tools (Canva Adobe Suite Later/Hootsuite etc)
- Available for a minimum of 10 hours per week starting August 1 2025
- Previous experience with the Nugget is a bonus
