POSITION:DC Deck Controller
DEPARTMENT: Distribution Center (DC/Inbounding)
SALARY CLASS:Salary Exempt / Full Time Position
Shift: Hours: 2nd shift Flexible as Needed
Internal Candidates with less than 3 Attendance points will be considered for position
General Description:
The DC Traffic Controller will be responsible for directing box and pallet movement within the Automated Warehouse. The system is highly automated but dependent on personnel input to effectively operate from day to day. This person will use new operating systems (Red Prairie WMS and Invar WCS) in concert with existing Production personnel and systems (via Daily Make Sheet and Direct Communication) and operating personnel (radio and direct communication) to direct material movement for inbound and outbound processes.
Required skills:

- Pork plant production processes
- Pork plant scheduling methods and characteristics
- Be comfortable with computers and accessing multiple systems in order to monitor and direct as needed processes within the warehouse.
- Learn the basic operating parameters of the key systems (Fresh AS/RS Freezer AS/RS Accumulation Deck Sortation Systems Palletizers and Pallet Exchangers) in order to know how they work and be able to articulate issues to both warehouse operating and maintenance personnel.
- Learn how to direct loads to specific location such as automated palletizing or the hand line to optimize order fulfillment which is the goal of this new system.
- Understand rail and truck shipping requirements and learn how the system supports these activities.
- Be able to train and mentor others to perform these tasks so that the system operates effectively during absences of the primary operator (either long term or during breaks or meetings).
Education Requirements (if applicable)
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Basic understanding of computer operating techniques
- Good communication concepts
- Willing to understand a complex but repeating process which is a pork processing plant
