About the team
The Stripe Product Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products at Stripe consulting on accounting implications and supporting teams ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all businessgenerated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. We operate in a fastpaced environment and collaborate significantly with crossfunctional and international teams.
What youll do
Stripe is seeking a highly experienced accountant to join its world class Accounting team and help us scale for the future in a fastpaced environment that is growing rapidly. In this role you will support our global revenue accounting across Payments and SaaS products leveraging your technical expertise with US GAAP specifically ASC 606 to quickly identify accounting implications and impacts to customers while advising and collaborating with team members crossfunctionally to develop operational processes that help us scale.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting
- In conjunction with our GTM Revenue Intake accounting team partner closely with our product gotomarket and finance partners to thoroughly understand new products features and contracts and advise on operational accounting implications
- Partner with internal systems and engineering teams to support internal financial systems and automation of accounting processes
- Leverage deep understanding of ASC 606 to develop requirements and standard operating procedures to support policies
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
- Develop and maintain uptodate accounting procedural documentation
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities including journal entries balance sheet reconciliations variance analyses financial reporting deliverables and analytical reviews
- Produce internal management analyses and reporting
- Support external audit processes

Minimum requirements
- 10 years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience in accounting
- B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CA/CPA strongly preferred)
- Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues with a focus in ASC 606
- Excellent communication and organizational skills both written and verbal with ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and nonfinancial audiences
- Strong knowledge of Excel and experience working with large data sets often coming from multiple sources
- Demonstrated experience partnering with crossfunctional stakeholders
- Experience with internal controls (design implementation and
- Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results with excellent attention to detail
- Solutionoriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices and challenging existing processes to identify improvement opportunities
Preferred qualifications
- CA/CPA or similar qualification
- Experience using SQL to selfservice information
- Payments or Tech industry experience
