Job Description

Working Title: Equipment Specialist

Classification Title: Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt I

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations the Equipment Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate ordering receiving embellishing invoicing and delivery of team apparel shoes and equipment purchased from the designated vendor/s or manufacturer/s. The Equipment Specialist is also responsible for coordinating maintenance of team apparel including daily laundry of practice and game apparel and gear travel apparel and equipment. This position coordinates issuing of and tracks teamspecific apparel and equipment issued to student athletes.

The incumbent is also responsible for researching best practices related to equipment safety evaluation of current processes and systems related to the maintenance ordering inventory and distribution/collection of apparel and equipment for the intercollegiate programs served by the Equipment Room. The incumbent is expected to develop and implement operational processes procedures and systems related to equipment and supplies that maximize efficiency and resources. The incumbent represents the Equipment Room and works closely with coaches and vendors to meet the ongoing equipment needs of the designated teams. The Equipment Specialist provides lead work direction to one fulltime employee and hires and supervises student assistants and interns.

FLSA:Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range/Rate:$4598 per month $5393 per month

Experience

  1. Experience ordering purchasing tracking and/or receiving products/inventory
  2. Experience in a Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Department
  3. Experience providing lead work direction

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  1. Ability to analyze problems develop solutions and implement procedures within the constraints of a large organization
  2. Ability to conduct research and analysis (e.g. best practices inventory needs costs etc.
  3. Knowledge of athletic equipment and supplies (e.g. for an intercollegiate sports program) including ordering embellishing maintenance care equipment lifecycle and inventory management and control
  4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
  5. Ability to interpret and implement standard and specialized safety and operational policies and procedures
  6. Ability to provide lead work direction and training to others as well as prepare work schedules
  7. Proficiency in operating standard office equipment and using standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  8. Ability to perform business math expenditure tracking budget projections reconciliations and cost analysis
  9. Working knowledge of financial recordkeeping and procedures
  10. Strong communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service to internal and external constituents
  11. Ability to work independently and collaboratively
