SUNY Onondaga Community College located in Syracuse NY is currently recruiting for a Auto TechHeavy Equipment Mechanic FT Tenure Track Faculty

The Automotive Technology Department has a fulltime tenure track faculty position responsibilities of this position include collegelevel teaching of Automotive and Heavy Equipment Repair Technology lecture courses and laboratory activities. Content areas such as Vehicle Electrical Systems schematics & diagnostics Suspension Systems including active suspension air ride repair and diagnosis Braking Systems including hydraulics pneumatics Engine and Transmission operation with diagnosis and repair. ASE Certified Technicians are an Industry standard. All courses use ASE standards for material and testing. Additional responsibilities include academic advising curriculum development participation on committees and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will be qualified to teach several of the following classes and labs:

• ATC/CHQ 103 Automotive Fundamentals
• ATC/CHQ 104 Automotive Braking Systems
• ATC/CHQ 116 Automotive Electrical Systems
• ATC 202 Vehicle Suspension Systems
• ATC/CHQ271 Vehicle HVAC
• ATC 205 Automotive Driveline
• ATC 141 Engine Repair
• ATC 243 Engine Performance
• ATC 141 Fuels & Ignition
• Other Heavy Equipment Courses

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be responsive to student questions and available for student support;
• Use appropriate technology to enhance learning;
• Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives;
• Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education;
• Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion;
• Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and handson learning activities that achieve learning outcomes;
• Provide timely feedback on students assignments and exams throughout each semester; and
• Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Appointment at the Rank of Instructor:

• Associate Degree in Automotive Technology or related field and industryrecognized certifications with at least 10 years of industryrelated experience; or
• Automotive industry experience industryrecognized training and industryrecognized certifications with at least 20 years of industryrelated experience.

Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor:

• Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and industryrecognized certifications with at least 10 years of industryrelated experience; or
• Automotive industry experience industryrecognized training and industryrecognized certifications with at least 20 years of industryrelated experience.

Additional Information:

• Thestarting salary for the rank of Instructor is $53045 and Assistant Professor is $59676.
