Virtual psychiatrist support for Indigenous Health Outreach (IHO) and Indigenous Crisis Response Team (ICRT).
This role will provide virtual psychiatrist consultation and support for the Indigenous Health Outreach (IHO) and Indigenous Crisis Response Team (ICRT) in Indigenous Health at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) which are VCHs only Indigenousspecific outreach and crisis response services.
Leading with cultural safety in an Indigenous Relational and strengthsbased approach to care IHO supports unhoused or precariously housed people in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) community in Vancouver with complex mental health and/or substance use challenges and connects them to cultural supports and health services including existing mental health & substance use programs and primary care services.
ICRT leads with cultural safety to provide wholistic nonpolice mobile mental health and wellness crisis response services for people in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) community. IHO and ICRT are an interdisciplinary team and works collaboratively across the health system with communitybased service providers including shelter and supportive housing staff to provide a communitybased healthcareled crisis response postcrisis follow up and service navigation.
