Job Description
Title: Controller
Location: OnSite Washington DC
Conversion Salary: $119000 $150000
Job Type: Contract to Hire
This pivotal role involves managing accounting operations maintaining accurate financial records and preparing comprehensive reports. The Controller will lead a skilled team to drive financial excellence ensuring compliance and supporting audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the maintenance of accounts ensuring proper recording of transactions and assets.
- Oversee monthend closing reviewing journal entries and accruals for GAAP compliance.
- Assist the CFO with annual audits and DCAA Incurred Cost Submissions preparing necessary schedules and analyses for external auditors.
- Manage project accounting in the BST system ensuring accurate billing and cost tracking for approximately 100 clients.
- Oversee invoicing collections and contract management to ensure timely payment.
- Maintain monthly fixed asset accounting and reporting.
- Collaborate with the CFO on operating budgets and Indirect Overhead Rates.
- Support tax planning and compliance ensuring timely filing of federal state and local taxes.
- Manage accounts payable and payroll operations.
- Develop and implement new accounting policies to enhance efficiency.
- Mentor and train accounting staff providing evaluations and fostering professional development.
- Handle special projects as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required; MBA preferred.
- 10 years of experience in Government Contracting Accounting or Finance.
- Expertise in DCAA Incurred Cost Submissions (ICE) and Indirect Overhead Rate preparation.
- Experience with BST Global Deltek Costpoint or similar accounting systems is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
- Strong ability to meet deadlines maintain attention to detail and effectively communicate accounting matters.
- Proven experience in managing mentoring and crosstraining accounting teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data.
