Job Description

Vanguard is hiring for a VMC Treasury Liaison to be part of a highly skilled and dynamic team that performs Treasury Functions consisting of moving and reconciling broker dealer cash activity. The VMC Treasury Liaison will perform the newly required daily customer reserve computations including required deposits into and withdrawals from the special reserve account in compliance with SEC rule 15c33 (Customer Protection Rule). VMC is a Vanguard legal entity which is a registered brokerdealer and provides brokerage services as a selfclearing brokerdealer under the name Vanguard Brokerage Services. VMC also provides marketing and distribution services for the Vanguard funds.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and performs required daily Customer Reserve calculation in accordance with SEC rule 15c33
  • Prepares and performs required daily deposits into and withdrawals from the Customer Reserve bank account in order to properly protect customer assets.
  • Identifies reconciling items and compiles and organizes all required supporting documentation.
  • Supports external audit team (PwC) during the annual audit (Financial Statement and Compliance report) specific to daily customer reserve computations and cash management functions.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs cash management and payment functions
  • Ensures accuracy of all data inputs transactions processed and journal entries posted.
  • Partners with settlement banks to resolve balance and funds movement inquiries.
  • Calculates aggregatelevel daily cash variances and reconciles daily aggregate cash account activity by established deadlines.
  • Researches and resolves aggregatelevel cash account reconciliation discrepancies and variances.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (in accounting or finance preferred). CPA or MBA preferred and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently.
  • Excellent computer skills including accounting software Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and clients.
  • One to two years general experience in an accounting and financial reporting environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of 15c33 Customer Protection Rule and customer reserve computations.
  • Working knowledge of BetaNeXT and the broker dealer stock record/
  • Working knowledge of financial and operational controls.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
