The Senior Internal Improvement Consultant collaborates with Director of Quality and Outcomes Management (QOM) and Safety Officer. The primary purpose of the role is to contribute toward at least one of the primary QOM priorities: 1 Accreditation 2 Senior Management Team (SMT) Scorecards (Key Performance Indicators (KPI) 3 Quality and Safety related Workgroups and/or 4 Educational and Improvement opportunities. The role contributes to the QOM department and organization by supporting accreditation standards facilitating improvements and driving datadriven decisions at Shepherd Center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Internal Improvement Consultant utilizes critical thinking analytic acumen creation of dashboards and scorecards facilitation of small and large groups education of stakeholders within and outside of Shepherd Center by applying the Science of Improvement as outlined from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Essential functions include:

  • Development of and employment of effective models of data collection process and outcome measurement and data analysis. Important aspects of the job include application of effective teamwork strategies highprofessionalism standards service within the team and the quality subcommittee of the board monthly arearounding semiannual quality and safety awareness campaigns student and resident mentorship.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements organizational standards and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility.
  • Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.


REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree from a fouryear college or university or Higher
  • Health Systems/Industrial Engineering Health Policy Health Administration Nursing Physical Therapy or Psychology preferred

REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION

  • No professional certifications required on hire.
  • Completion of the IHI Basic Certificate in quality improvement within 1 year of hire.

REQUIRED MINIMUM

  • 35 years improvement science experience
  • Experience with lean or other improvement methods preferred
  • Understanding of the assessment of healthcare standards of accreditation desired
  • Experience with determining monitoring and analyzing KPIs
  • Command of group facilitation
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

REQUIRED MINIMUM

  • Knowledge of managing and analyzing data
  • Acumen with change management
  • Ability to motivate change and improvements
  • Skills with group facilitation
  • Focused disciplined ability to perform under timerestricted constraints.
  • Ability to complete orientation by determined due date as well as mandatory education and other annual requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • No physical demands beyond Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve moving or being stationary for brief periods of time or exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
