As an Occupational Therapist heres a bigpicture view of what youll do:
- Provide occupational therapy to patients unable to perform daily tasks due to an illness or injury in nursing homes rehab centers assisted living facilities clinics and hospitals
- Work with a team of physicians nurses CNAs PTs and SLPs to provide excellent patient care
- Assist physician in evaluation of patient function deficits fall risks and adaptive equipment needs
- Assess patient establish therapy goals document progress and modify therapy as needed
- Assist patient with exercises to improve fine motor skills and coordination
- Educate patients and family on established goals exercises safety and selfcare
A few musthaves for Occupational Therapists:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OT license in Florida.
- Minimum of 2 years of occupational therapy experience in a medical facility
- CPR certification and AHCA level 2 experience
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
- Good clinical judgement strong interpersonal skills resourceful and compassionate
