Job Description
The University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for Associate Professor or Professor/Associate Dean of Research School of Nursing R0146544.
ROLE of the POSITION
This is a search for an Associate Professor or Professor/Associate Dean of Research within the School of Nursing (SON).
Primary responsibilities of an academic faculty appointment are to 1 teach nursing courses consistent with area of expertise; 2 collaborate with other faculty in course development; 3 use teaching resources such as WebCampus/Canvas to foster learning; 4 provide student supervision; 5 participate in school university professional and community service activities; and for tenure/tenuretrack 6 engage in research leading to publications in quality refereed journals; and 7 seek internal and external grant funds. Classes in the School of Nursing are offered yearround using a trimester sequence.
Primary responsibilities as the Associate Dean of Research:
The Associate Dean of Research (ADR) works to advance the quality and integrity of the SON research programs by providing strategic vision developing processes and procedures to support grant management and compliance processes. The ADR creates an environment that fosters research and scholarship productivity and provides consultation and technical assistance to faculty staff students and partners in the development of research proposals to advance the schools mission. The Associate Dean of Research is responsible for providing overall leadership and oversight for matters related to research innovation compliance and advancement.
Primary duties and responsibilities will be focused on but are not limited to the following areas:
Provides leadership in facilitating research to establish and achieve a dynamic research vision.
Maintains and builds a wide network of professional contacts within the professional research community locally regionally nationally and internationally to foster collaboration and participation in inter and intradisciplinary activities.
Oversees the operations and personnel of the Office of Research and Scholarship.
Mentors tenure track faculty in developing and funding sustainable programs of research.
Coordinates faculty workshops and development related to research and scholarship skills.
Facilitates new and existing academicclinical research partnerships. Fosters collaborative interdisciplinary research associations.
Oversees consultation on research design methods and statistics in the development of research projects and on data management and analyses for funded projects and nonfunded research.
Offers recommendations to the Dean and Executive Council to advance the research mission of the School.
Collaborates with PhD and DNP Directors to identify develop and implement research opportunities and support for doctoral students.
Represents the SON on University committees task forces and work groups as well as to other institutions associations and interests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The individual must have a minimum of 3 years experience and must hold a doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited College or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The individual must also hold or be qualified to hold a Nevada RN license and if selected applicant is subject to a onetime background check.
Faculty rank will be dependent upon educational credentials terminal degree experience and scholarly achievement. Based on UNLV School of Nursing criteria and review. NOTE:The senior level nursing faculty member must possess a record of extensive scholarly achievement (e.g. publications grant funding as PI).
Associate Professor or Professor (tenured): terminal degree research activity and a record of extensive scholarly achievement.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
