Job Description

A.POSITION PURPOSE

Miller Center is at the forefront of the global social entrepreneurship movement with a robust track record of accelerating social enterprises since 2003. We accompany social entrepreneurs in catalyzing innovative sustainable solutions to poverty guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our proven model unites the talents and expertise of our executive mentors worldclass programs Silicon Valleys spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and Santa Clara Universitys Jesuit heritage of serving the poor and marginalized. Under the supervision of the Executive Director and in alignment with the Centers mission and objectives the Senior Advisor assists in ensuring the scaling of Miller Centers work by bringing awareness and thought leadership and developing and stewarding financial and nonfinancial strategic partnerships.

B.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

On call support in thought leadership in the social entrepreneurship sector 100:

Contribute to the Centers thought leadership by writing white papers and blogs and participating in external speaking engagements on relevant topics.

Support fundraising efforts for new and existing programs by identifying funding opportunities providing technical inputs for proposals meeting with potential funders and contributing to stewardship reports.

Support Miller Centers ongoing partnership with Innovation Works.

Connect valuable ecosystem partners to Miller Center.

Act as media and social media spokesperson on social entrepreneurship for Miller Center.

C.QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge skills abilities education and experience required or preferred.

This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.

1.Knowledge

  • Deep Knowledge of Social Entrepreneurship Partnerships and Networks.

  • Application knowledge of Google docs Excel Google Slides

  • Working directly with Social Entrepreneurs

2.Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and followthrough
  • Ability to partner effectively with social entrepreneurs ontheground partners volunteer mentors Miller Center staff and other members of the social enterprise ecosystem
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills including strong writing skills
  • Strong customer focus
  • Ability to handle multiple projects set priorities meet deadlines and maintain a high level of performance
  • Strong time management skills exceptional attention to detail proven planning skills and superior followthrough

3.Abilities

  • Exercises judgment and maintains confidentiality
  • Flexible schedule including ability to work remotely and participate in early morning and evening calls as required

4.Education

  • Masters degree in a related field

5.Years of Experience

  • Experience building or managing community/multiple stakeholder engagements
  • Strong data management skills
  • At least ten years of experience in the field of social enterprise
  • A minimum of ten years progressively responsible work experience including program management activities
  • Experience living and working in the developing world ideally working directly with a social enterprise
  • Experience participating in or working in a capacity development training program

  • Some travel including travel to developing countries is required
