Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


Instructional DeliveryPrepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.

Classroom/Laboratory ManagementManage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

Curriculum Development Develop monitor and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance.

Resource Management Manage equipment supplies and materials necessary for instructional activities.

Student Assessment Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

Student Advising Advises students on academic matters and provides guidance to support their educational journey.

Collaboration:Collaborate with advisory committees colleagues and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Meeting Participation Attend departmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decisionmaking.

Promotion and Recruitment Promote educational programs participate in student recruitment efforts and support initiatives to retain students.

Student Support Support student organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience.

Industry Engagement Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth.

Evaluation and Professional Development Complete program evaluations engage in continuous professional development and stay current in the field.

Additional Duties Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution.


Qualifications

Educational requirements
Must have one 1 of the following

  1. Bachelors Degree (BS/BA) in Culinary Arts or Hospitalityrelated field.
  2. Associates Degree (AAS/AA) in Culinary Arts with a Bachelors in any Discipline.
  3. Associates Degree (AAS/AA) in Culinary Arts with seven 7 years 14000 hours) of experience and training including one 1 year of Supervision/Management in Culinary Arts.
  4. A Culinary Arts Apprenticeship completion certificate from the Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) or a federally registered program or a signed letter from a representative of an MATC apprenticeship advisory committee with seven 7 years 14000 hours) of experience and training including one 1 year of Supervision/Management in Culinary Arts.
Occupational experience
Must have a minimum of two 2 years of fulltime or equivalent 4000 hours) experience as one 1 of the following
  1. Chef
  2. Manager in a Hospitalityrelated field
In addition one of the following must be met:
  • At least one 1 years of work experience must have occurred within the last five 5 years.
  • Two 2 years of teaching Culinary Arts course work at the postsecondary level within the last five years
Industry or vendor certification
  • Must have a valid ServSafe Manager Certification from the National Restaurant Association with an overall passing score of 90.

Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction.

Essential TechnologyExperience with an Email system (Gmail Outlook) Telephone Experience with a voice mail system and Computer Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google

Essential Supportive TechnologyExperience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies

  • Online Information Management Systems Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising student programs grading class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Experience with Blackboard or other webbased course management systems
  • Technologybased Instruction Experience with technologybased instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium interactive touch screen monitors LCD projectors DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

This position is part of the parttime faculty pool with the start date contingent upon course availability. Assignments and schedule will depend on course offerings and student enrollment needs.


InterviewAs part of the interview process selected candidates are required to prepare a teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes which may be conducted inperson or virtual.

SalaryThe starting hourly wage for all parttime faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Parttime faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is nonnegotiable
