Microbiology Lab Technician

Fresh Mark is currently seeking candidates to fill an entrylevel Microbiology Lab Technician position. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting general microbiological lab work and routine microbiological testing for food and environmental samples proficiently. The candidate also will need to understand and apply the appropriate techniques and methodologies to obtain valid accurate test results in an ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by receiving recording weighing and mixing
• Documenting and maintaining routine quality control and statistical process control data
• Conducting routine quality control work on microbiological growth media and reagents
• Maintain working knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Documenting and reporting sample information and results into LIMS.

• Support routine maintenance and improvement of the quality management system and ISO 17025:2017 accreditation.

• Pathogen Screening using Rapid Detection Methods (including BAX PCR/RTPCR)
  

• Participate in routine proficiency testing through AOAC

• Equipment verification calibration and general lab work (such as dishes lab cleaning/sanitation housekeeping etc.
• Following Good Lab Practices (GLPs) and adhering to all safety policies.

Job Requirements

• Associates degree or equivalent work experience including a minimum of 1 year of applied experience working in a microbiology or chemistry lab. Lab experience in the food industry a plus.
• Availability to work 6 days/week and 4050 hrs/week.
• Basic knowledge of the biological sciences and strong analytical skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel Word Power Point etc..
• Strong timemanagement and planning skills the ability to prioritize and demonstrate a strong attention to detail.
• Must demonstrate strong communication skills be a team player be motivated and have a willingness to learn new skills and methods with the ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment.
• High comfort level with working independently and proficiently and in a fastpaced environment.
• Ability to work while standing for extended periods of time and the physical dexterity to work with large sample volumes.
