The University of Miami has a great opportunity for a Grant Accountant 1 to work at the Coral Gables Campus.

The ORA Grant Accountant I Collections supports a robust grant and contract portfolio and ensures pre and postaward requirements are met. The ORA Grant Accountant is responsible for reporting and monitoring sponsored research accounts from award set up through closeout while adhering to University state and federal policies. This position works independently plays an important role in postaward compliance by ensuring that budgets are not overspent grant periods are adhered to costs are allowable under the award and accounting records are maintained in good order. Moreover this position acts as a liaison for faculty and staff to various central support offices.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists with or performs grantrelated postaward functions including award setup and budget distributions expense monitoring periodic invoicing and financial reporting. Performs grant closeout functions such as reconciliations and financial status reports. Ensures high quality efficient service to the research community and participates in innovative customer service initiatives. Assesses need and aids in the resolution of matters in conjunction with principal investigator or department administrator. Assists with time and effort reporting system ensuring it is complete and in compliance with applicable regulations. Communicates with fiscal contacts at funding source for problem resolution and information gathering. Maintains a demonstrated knowledge of Federal regulations related to Research Administration including the Uniform Guidance Cost Accounting Standards Federal Acquisition Regulations and major Federal funding agency guidelines. Assists in the completion of all aspects of the annual audit report on federal awards. Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelors degree or any appropriate combination of relevant work experience and/or education may be considered.

Certification and Licensing:

Successful completion of Certified Public Accountant Certified Financial Research Administrator or Certified Research Administrator status or equivalent designation preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3 year of relevant experience. University Research Administration experience is highly preferred. Knowledge of federal and state laws regulations and policies related to research administration. Any appropriate combination of experience and/or certifications may be considered.

The ORA Grant Accountant I Collections supports the research mission of the University of Miami and the goals of the Office of Research Administration and is an integral partner in a sponsored programs administration team. Directly responsible for tracking and collecting outstanding receivables the Grant Accountant collaborates with internal teams and external sponsors to resolve issues provide aging receivables reporting and support audits.
