Essential Functions:
- Preparing and presenting material explaining actuarial concepts and findings.
- Providing guidance to nonactuaries on actuarial principles and concepts.
- Representing the Department on crossfunctional teams.
- Supporting corporate goals and principles and communicating those to more junior staff.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience using SQL Excel Access and Python
- Annual statement familiarity
- Proven knowledge of actuarial techniques and methodologies
- Strong verbal written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Professional presentation skills
- Team player with analytical quantitative and leadership abilities
- May travel up to 15 as needed
Experience/Education
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Finance Business or similar field
- Credentialed actuary (ACAS or FCAS) preferred; will consider a candidate who is actively taking exams
- 25 years of actuarial experience required

Pay information:
Job level is commensurate with experience specialized skills relevant to the role and possession of the outlined preferred qualifications. Markel reserves the right to propose an alternative career level based on these factors. Base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as jobrelevant education jobrelevant experience training licensure demonstrated competencies geographic location and other factors. The national average salary for the Senior Actuarial Analyst position is $73000 $122600 with 15 bonus potential. The national average salary for the Actuary position is $90500 $150900 with 25 bonus potential.
