Job Description

Responsibilities

Performs scheduling functions as designated by practice. Schedules regular office appointments surgeries procedures and diagnostic testing. Requires general knowledge of specified surgical procedures exam preparations exam sequencing and other related functions.

Qualifications

  1. Graduate of Medical Assistant program or Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course. In lieu of medical assistant program education or Military Medic course 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  2. Expertise in ambulatory/physician office practice flow and activities; specialty specific disease processes and conditions; inoffice procedures and patient education.
  3. Current American Heart Associations Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of Medical terminology
  5. One year previous medical related clerical experience
  6. Demonstrated organizational and communication/customer service skills
  7. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in utilization of computer application
  8. Demonstrated problemsolving skills
  9. Ability to type 40 words per minute
  10. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals in all levels of responsibility.
  11. Ability to work independently.
  12. Color vision acuity is required to safely perform the duties of this position if such duties are related to lab duties.
  13. All applicants must submit to and pass a ColorAcuity screening Test if such duties of this position are related to lab duties.

PREFERRED:

  1. Previous experience in hospital/medical office scheduling environment.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of a computerized scheduling system
  3. Prior experience in insurance precertification
  4. One 1 year secretarial experience at a healthcare organization.
  5. Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) certified through American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  6. Minimum of three 3 years patient care experience as a Medical Assistant in physician practice or other ambulatory care setting.

Work Hours:

MThurs 7:30am 4:30pm Fri 7:30am 12pm
