We are seeking an Application Engineer to join our team in Duncan SC. After gaining knowledge of our environment there is the opportunity for this position to work under our Hybrid schedule working both in the office and remotely.
The Applications Engineer provides technical support to Energy market customers in their assigned territory with focus on fiber optic cable and accessories. Support includes fiber optic cable quoting handson training cable design white paper and video creation and relationship development through traveling with the sales team.
Responsibilities
- Lead RFx response efforts through technical bid review
- Proposing pricing for quote requests through sales history and design research
- Provide pre and post technical support to sales customer service representatives and customers
- Design optimized fiber optic cables suitable for the customer application and sag and tension requirements
- Conduct product training both internally for company associates and externally for customers sales agents and representatives
- Create documents for new product introductions installation instructions application notes and product specification guidelines
- Remain up to date and knowledgeable on the most current competitor product offerings and technology
- Facilitate customer visits and factory acceptance tests
- Investigate failure analysis of products for customer complaints and product customerfacing reports
- Adhere to and promote the environmental health and safety policies of AFL.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree Mechanical Materials Optical Industrial or Electrical Engineering
- Entry level up to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience or knowledge of fiber optics is a plus.
- Fiber optic knowledge a plus.
- Strongly proficient using MS Word Excel PowerPoint.
- Highly effective/strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Up to 50 travel may be required.
- Knowledge of mechanical tooling design software macro generation or fiber optic component packaging.
