About the Opportunity
The Northeastern Universitys Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Northeastern University is seeking outstanding individuals to fill a fulltime nontenuretrack faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor with a focus in Robotics. This is a fulltime benefitseligible nontenuretrack position at the Northeastern University Seattle campus. Appointments are made on an annual 8month basis with salary commensurate with experience.
Northeastern University teaching professors are nontenure track with potential for promotion from Assistant Teaching Professor to Associate Teaching Professor and to Full Teaching Professor. Fulltime teaching professors are not eligible for tenure. Nontenuretrack faculty have renewable appointment terms guided by the Faculty Handbook.
The Northeastern University ECE programs at the Seattle campus currently include two concentrations of the MS in ECE. The program started in Fall 2023 and currently includes over two dozen graduate students. Expansion of the MS Robotics program is planned for Fall 2025. Candidates would join a department of over 120 tenuretrack and nontenuretrack teaching faculty as well as several affiliated and visiting faculty.
The position entails educational interaction with students in roles including but not limited to traditional instruction (lecture courses lab courses) curriculum development and student advising. The main responsibility of this position is teaching courses related to robotics including kinematics dynamics and control of robots design of microprocessorbased control systems sensory devices output actuators numerical methods state estimation control perception localization and mapping motion planning and the ROS (Robotic Operating System) environment. Faculty in this position are also expected to teach courses in embedded systems digital logic design computer organization and/or programming.
Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professors are also encouraged to pursue scholarly research on both educational and pedagogical topics as well as in their technical area of expertise and they will have the opportunity to supervise graduate students.
The annual teaching course load is six courses with the potential for teaching more than one section of a course in the same semester over Fall and Spring semesters. Courses may be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
A PhD in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or related areas and teaching experience are required by employment start date.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in robotics and related subareas. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Industrial experience is desirable but not required.

Pay Range:
Assistant Teaching Professor: $100000 $112000 Associate Teaching Professor: $98000 $113000 Teaching Professor: $110000 $128000With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarlysituated employees already in the role.
