Newman lab studies how signaling metabolites influence aging and applies these insights to clinical problems. We seek a motivated creative
scientist to work on projects ranging from biochemistry to translational applications in a vibrant and supportive research atmosphere guided by a physicianscientist mentor.
This is a 100 onsite position.Position DescriptionThis role focuses on studying aging mechanisms using biospecimens from clinical trials and cohorts. Projects include:
- Testing biological proof of concept for interventions.
- Studying aging biomarkers in conditions linked to accelerated aging.
- Exploring the role of aging biology in geriatric syndromes.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Processing biospecimens and analyzing complex multiomic datasets.
- Validating findings in preclinical models.
- Contributing to research grants and scientific publications.
- Potential opportunities to participate in human clinical studies.
A strong lab background is required though training in additional skills will be provided to support a career in translational research. This work is highly collaborative with other labs core facilities and clinical research teams.
Qualifications- MD and/or PhD in Biology Chemistry Translational Science or related fields.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage an independent research project.
- Selfmotivated and eager to learn new skills.
- Experience with lab techniques such as DNA RNA and protein isolation PCR Western blotting and electrophoresis.
- Prior experience with tissue culture techniques.
- Bonus: Experience in coding bioinformatics mouse models behavioral testing or clinical research.
- Passion for aging science with a focus on interventions to extend human healthspan.
- Ability to process and integrate data from various sources.
