Job Description

The Mission
Munichbased OroraTech is developing a constellation of nanosatellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection severe weather warnings and many other applications. Following the successful launches of our hosted payload missions FOREST1 in January 2022 and FOREST2 in June 2023 we have achieved a major milestone in January 2025 with the launch of FOREST3 our first fully inhouse developed satellite. We are now focused on operating these satellites and preparing for our next major steps. This includes the launch of our OTCP1 mission our first constellation of 8 satellites (hosted payloads) scheduled for April 2025 as well as preparing for the launch of our second set of 8 satellites OTCP2 planned for the end of the 2025. As we continue to expand our satellite network and advance our inhouse capabilities we are seeking a skilled and motivated Orbital Dynamics Engineer to join our satellite operations team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting satellite operations by providing expertise in orbital mechanics trajectory analysis and mission planning.
What youll be doing

As an Orbital Dynamics Engineer you will:

  • Become an expert in our propulsion module functionality

  • Generate detailed maneuver plans and commissioning plans for satellite missions

  • Ensure satellites reach their intended orbits and maintain their positions

  • Develop and implement automation solutions for orbit maintenance procedures

  • Collaborate closely with the Mission Control team and Mission Engineering team

  • Analyze and optimize satellite maneuvers considering power budget and pointing capabilities

  • Perform orbital analysis and trajectory design for satellite missions

  • Conduct collision avoidance analysis and recommend mitigation strategies

  • Contribute to the development of tools for orbital calculations and predictions

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders

Relevant Skills
  • Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering Physics or related field (Ph.D. preferred)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in orbital dynamics and satellite operations

  • Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics astrodynamics and spacecraft dynamics

  • Expertise in propulsion systems and their application in satellite operations

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python MATLAB or C

  • Experience with orbit determination and propagation software (e.g. STK GMAT OREKIT)

  • Familiarity with space environment models and perturbation analysis

  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills

  • Strong communication skills in English (knowledge of Greek or German is a plus)

  • Ability to work effectively in crossfunctional teams

  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support satellite operations as needed
