By The Hand is a not for profit religious organization. Individuals employed by By The Hand are working in ministerial roles and perform all or some of the following responsibilities: sharing the Gospel teaching chapel leading Bible studies discipling students and modeling behavior that is consistent with Christs teaching.
Rate of Pay:$22 per hour
Overview of Position
Reporting to the Vice President of Learning The Reading Specialist is responsible for identifying and addressing reading deficiencies for students in 3rd grade through high school. This position requires a selfmotivated and focused leader with a background of teaching children crafting lessons and locating materials to fit individual needs of students in order to foster growth in their abilities interest and understanding of reading.
Spiritual Requirements
Has a personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by a lifestyle that demonstrates the Word of God and is in regular fellowship with other members in a Biblebelieving church.
Agrees with the By The Hand Club Doctrinal Statement and adheres to the Employee Biblical Standards of Living.
Shows by example the importance of Scripture memorization Bible study prayer witnessing and Christian fellowship.
Participates in weekly team prayer and devotion.
Has completed an evangelism course and is trained and prepared to share the gospel with anyone who inquires.
Works with leadership to monitor and enforce policies and procedures to further the BTHs religious purpose and religious freedom.
Role Responsibilities
Performs in a way that is consistent with the vision mission and culture of By The Hand and commits to excellence in every aspect of the overall operation.
Models cultural values of By The Hand Club For Kids in daytoday behavior.
Follows all policies as outlined in the operational guide including maintaining brand standards and ensuring 100 adherence to the Child Protection Policy.
Participates in employee growth plans including quarterly conversations and annual review meetings.
Identifies 3rd gradehigh school students at risk in reading.
Knows how to use data to make informed decisions and provide support.
Tracks and compiles data in a coherent and organized way to track student progress.
Creates a schedule for tutoring sessions and revisits quarterly or as needed.
Researches designs and executes weekly lesson plans that address the reading needs of students being tutored.
Guides students through reading activities designed to help them overcome obstacles to literacy.
Communicates changes questions and observations as they occur.
Participates in activities to advance his/her knowledge in current trends in reading and instruction.
Supports blended learning team leaders to set goals and problemsolve.
Monitors and supports the blended learning program.
Designs and executes two literacy events throughout the school year.
Meets with the Vice President of Learning for planning guidance problem solving and feedback.
Performs all other duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience
A bachelors degree and/or certification in Education or Reading.
Training or expertise in curriculum assessment and/or teacher professional development are strongly preferred.
Knowledge of the components and techniques for tutoring.
Experience using Google Suite.
Metrics
Improved student metrics including attendance and retention reading scores students reading at/above grade level.
Increased participation or time on task in blended learning for students.
Impact of activities at time of .
Use of materials and resources in lessons and relationships built with students and staff.
Maintains thirtyfive students (total) in tutoring groups.
Maintains student growth and attendance records
Increased student confidence and attitude toward literacy..
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phone and copy machines. This job is not a virtual job but it requires inperson attendance as agreed upon by your immediate supervisor.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to speak and listen. This role may require you to move equipment between rooms and/or locations and lift up to 50 pounds. The individual is also required to travel to other organizational sites to meet with staff students and partners.
