Job Description
As an Autopsy Technologist at Mayo Clinic you will be responsible for assisting forensic pathologists and subspecialty pathologists during autopsy procedures including the pre and post autopsy activities and research projects. You will be guiding and instructing residents on autopsy procedures and participate in innovative projects in technology and research. Additional day to day activities include:
- Preparing specimens
- Cleaning museum boxes and providing archival and retrieval of these for Mayo Medical instructors
- Providing oncall coverage for weekend and holiday autopsy examinations
- Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds experiences and perspectives
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in mortuary science medical technology chemistry or biological science is required.
Additional Qualifications
- Welldeveloped knowledge of medical terminology medical practices and human anatomy is required.
- A degree in mortuary science is preferred.
- Additional science training such as experience working with dissection or sectioning of tissue is desirable.
