As a SAN Engineer youll monitor design operate install and maintain the current corporate SAN infrastructure. In this position youll also troubleshoot SAN and NAS related issues with server teams and assist with virtualization tasks as needed.
About the role
- Configure and monitor storage and archival needs
- Troubleshoot storage issues and engage server engineers database administrators and application owners when necessary
- Oversee storage networking infrastructure
- Monitor resource usage and plan for known or predicted growth
- Fulfill storage backup and dataprotection needs of internal systems
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Participate in an oncall rotation and work flexible hours
- Coordinate equipment needs with internal customers
About you
- Ability to think analytically and creatively
- Excellent time management communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and design
- Knowledge of Cisco MDS switches NXOS and SAN networking fundamentals
- Knowledge of Fibre Channel & NVMeoF protocols and communication flows
- Knowledge of Software Defined Storage SDS solutions; Ceph preferred
- Working knowledge of network file systems and concepts including CIFS/SMB and NFS
- Experience using the following systems: NetApp FAS Series Arrays NetApp Data ONTAP Cluster Dell/EMC Isilon & Unity IBM V7300 SAN and NAS hardware and protocols and VMware ESXi 7.0/8.0
