Job Description
Title: PartTime Position
Institution:Jackson State Community College
Job Summary
Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in Agriculture Biology Chemistry Physical Science or Physics labs at Jackson State Community College (JSCC). JSCC offers classes at four locations with the main campus located in Jackson TN. Additional centers include the LexingtonHenderson County Center in Lexington TN the SavannahHardin County Center in Savannah TN and the Gibson County Center in Trenton TN. Adjunct faculty are hired as needed on a semestertosemester basis and are expected to provide effective instruction in accordance with the catalog description and the approved course syllabus in all modalities of course offerings.
Job Duties
- Teach courses on ground at any of the four JSCC locations. In addition courses may be administered online hybrid or FLEX as assigned.
- Teach evening weekend offcampus dual enrollment and distancebased courses as required.
- Utilize the colleges learning management system (LMS) to provide course materials to students.
- Update course syllabi to include name and contact information at least 1 week prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the of contract.
- Stay abreast of current developments in the teaching discipline.
- Attend JSCCs adjunct orientation.
- Collaborate collegially with fulltime faculty in preparation and coordination of laboratory exercises and examinations in all modalities of instruction.
- Ability to efficiently operate maintain and clean standard laboratory supplies including glassware centrifuges pH meters dissection instruments and microscopes.
- Regularly check both your JSCC and eLearn emails and respond to emails/messages within 48 hours.
- Submit final lab grades to the instructor of record Department Chair or Dean at least 48 hours prior to the final grade deadline.
- Complete all required College trainings and reports including but not limited to attendance reporting Early Alerts cybersecurity training Title IX training etc.
- Advise the Department Chair Dean and Division Secretary as soon as possible in the event you would need to be absent from class.
- Comply with all JSCC and TBR policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a related Science field.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited institution in a related Science field.
Prior teaching experience preferably at the collegiate level
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty staff and student population.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in LMS management as well as Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate: $600 per credit hour

Future teaching assignments are on a termbyterm basis which may include fall spring and summer.
