Chemical Technician
Huntsman is seeking a Chemical Technician supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in HATC Texas. This position will report to the Senior Technical Product Manager.
Job Scope
As a Chemical Technician you will conduct physical and chemical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of epoxies curatives composite and electrical insulation systems. This will include setting up chemical experiments mechanical testing and analyses using techniques and methods commonly used in the chemical industry.
The candidate should also be proficient with regards to organizing recording and summarizing data using tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets. Participate in analyzing data by identifying the underlying principles reasons or facts of information and submit the technical reports.
In summary as the Chemical Technician your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Project planning sample requesting sample or formulation preparation sample testing using the equipment as stated in the job general purpose above.
- Data collection record evaluate and report data in a technical writing format.
- Search literature write reports and prepare presentations.
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Participate with team in Safety and housekeeping activities.
- Maintain laboratory hygiene by keeping work areas neat orderly and clean.
- Maintain laboratory equipment by ordering parts doing routine maintenance and performing quality check.
- Order chemicals for experiments. Safely dispose of chemicals and waste according to site requirements.
- Organize assignments in a manner that maximizes work efficiency without sacrificing quality.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Chemistry or Chemical Technology.
- 2 years of related experience.
Skills and knowledge
- Good knowledge and understanding of chemistries.
- Hands on experience on chemical and analytical testing physical and mechanical tests thermal analysis chemical and physical set up of equipment and follow ASTM / ISO test methods.
- Excellent skills in thorough concise and timely oral and written communication.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Strong work ethics.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Willing to learn and expand existing skills.
- Selfmotivated and ability to conduct work assignments under minimum supervision.
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet Email and Microsoft programs.
