About Merlin:
Merlin is a venture backed aerospace startup building a nonhuman pilot to enable both reduced crew and uncrewed flight. Backed by some of the worlds leading investors Merlin is scaling alongside our customers to begin leveraging autonomy today to solve some of aviations biggest challenges.

About You:
You are an experienced avionics software engineer looking for an opportunity to share your expertise with a fastgrowing team by providing technical direction and mentorship. In return you seek an innovative startup that values its employees and invests in their professional development. As a senior engineer your primary focus is spearheading software design and development resolving critical design decisions and demonstrating the highest levels of competence in safetycritical software engineering practices for the team. Technically you bring proven expertise in C and C having used one or both languages to develop flight software for multiple vehicles and/or other missioncritical systems.

The Role:

    • Contribute to the design and development of the autonomous flight software contributing to both lowerlevel embedded software and higherlevel autonomy function areas.
    • Oversee design and development of the software architecture for our safety critical systems.
    • Provide leadership by example define and implement process write and test code generate documentation and ensure our product ships and performs to the highest quality.
    • Take part in maintaining the configuration and quality of the software by driving development to the established standards and procedures.
    • Communicate and collaborate crossfunctionally to improve software by providing recommendations to update system requirements architecture or hardware to resolve issues.
    • Collaborate across Merlin to develop novel certifiable systems to solve the toughest problems in aviation and autonomy.
    • Provide mentorship to grow a strong and collaborative avionics software team.

Qualifications:

    • BS in Computer Science Aerospace Engineering or a related subject.
    • 5 years of experience in embedded software development with demonstrable knowledge of C/C.
    • Experience designing and implementing software for realtime operating systems (RTOS) with strong knowledge of lowlevel topics such as device driver development memory management and performance estimation.
    • Experience developing certified software for flight control systems vehicle management systems or other safetycritical avionics systems.

Nice To Have:

    • Demonstrable experience developing software in accordance with RTCA DO178C or MILHDBK516C.
    • Experience in verification of embedded C/Cdeveloped software.
