Job Description

Utilizes advanced health assessment knowledge and decision making skills works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in agerelated category and area of expertise.

Looking for an experienced surgical practitioner to join our evergrowing Heart & Vascular Team in our multispecialty clinic and hospital campus located in Fargo ND. Join three FT Cardiothoracic Surgeon and two Physician Assistants in a growing practice that offers a beautiful new OR area which includes 11 OR Suites 1 Hybrid Room 2 IR Suites 2 Cath Lab Suites 1 EP Suite and the DaVinci Robot.

*Previous surgical experience required CV preferred; may consider new graduates if extensive background/experience in surgical field.

  • Practice in highvolume clinic & hospital setting
  • Assist in OR in CT/CV/Device surgeries
  • Management of CCU/ICU patients; Pre and Postop orders discharge planning rounding
  • Collaborative practice with excellent clinic staff
  • 1012 patients per day
  • 15 procedures per day
  • Work MondayFriday plus oncall for emergent cases overnight.
  • Weekend coverage 1:3 for hospital rounding management of critical patients weekend discharges and surgical coverage for emergent surgeries.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is assigned to Surgical Services for the purpose of providing patient care under the supervision of the attending physician(s) in accordance with the rules regulations bylaws of the Medical Staff Office with the following responsibilities including but not limited to: assisting in surgery. Independently delivering clinical services to patients within the services line within the limits of their privileges. Complies with Essentia Health standards policies and procedures contributes to customer satisfaction participates in quality assurance improvement supports and participates in team approach to the delivery of patient care within the department service line and hospital. Fiscally responsible for the level of care prescribed/delivered and the appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates the successful judgment and ability to service appropriate unique needs of various patient populations and age groups.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment knowledge and decision making skills the NP/PA works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. NP/PAs provide health care to individuals and families emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients coworkers and others.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (if NP).
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate state.
  • Current certification in CPR
  • National certification in applicable area.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
