Banding: 6
Location: Ipswich
Hours: Monday Friday 09:00 17:00
Rate: 14.00 26.00 P/H
Duration: 1year fixed term
The Biomedical Science team at Pulse is currently recruiting a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Histology to work in a busy lab in Ipswich. We are looking for a biomedical scientist who can make a real difference in supporting the laboratorys cellular histology service. We need a suitable histology biomedical scientist who is proficient in microtomy.
What will you be doing in this Biomedical Scientist role
As a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Histology you will be responsible for proficiently performing microtomy achieving highquality sectioning at a rate of over 30 blocks per hour as well as overseeing embedding and staining processes while ensuring adherence to established protocols. You will implement quality control measures support senior biomedical scientists in delivering comprehensive histology services and provide training and mentorship to junior staff. Additionally you will maintain accurate documentation of laboratory activities assist in preparing reports for stakeholders and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by participating in risk assessments and promoting a safe working environment.
Essential Requirements for this Biomedical Scientist position:
- Previous experience working in a UK NHS histology laboratory is essential.
- Relevant qualification in Biomedical Science (e.g. BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent).
- Must be proficient in microtomy embedding and staining techniques.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
