Job Description
Overview: The main role of the 2nd Shift Production Manager is to ensure that the manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently. This includes monitoring KPIs worker productivity waste and defects equipment performance and ensuring that health and safety regulations are met. Production managers are responsible for the technical management supervision and control of Food production processes.
Essential Job Duties:
Oversee the production process from beginning to end.
Spends at least 75 of time on the plant floor.
Ensure compliance with safety health and environmental regulations.
Monitor and ensure that food is continuously prepared according to recipes to meet quality flavor and presentation standards.
Ensure that batch quantities prescribed are always adhered to by production staff when preparing food items. Maintain standards while meeting/exceeding cost of goods percentage goals.
Understand how to read and interpret a production schedule.
Monitor the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed.
Partner with Quality Maintenance Sanitation and Warehouse teams to coordinate shift activities.
Maintain records for all production departments relative to the quality of the product including batch records and records necessary for auditing purposes.
Perform regular shift reporting including downtime tracking labor usage yields and production metrics.
Maintain a clean and organized production environment in line with sanitation and food safety standards.
Supervise coach and develop hourly production team members and shift Supervisors & Leads to meet daily performance goals.
Track competencies of direct reports and provide leadership and development as required to achieve the objectives.
Working with Plant Manager and Operation shift managers to implement the shift goals & KPIs.
Competencies & Skill Requirements
Strong organizational and follow up skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
Knowledge of food manufacturing regulations including GMPs HACCP OSHA and SQF.
Solid problemsolving skills and sound judgment in decisionmaking.
Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
Experience with MS Office and basic ERP or production software tools.
Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure or during unexpected events.
A handson leader who leads by example and demonstrates strong floor presence.
Qualifications & Experience
Ability to work second shift hours. Normally from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM
Minimum 3 5 years in Management in Manufacturing Operations
BS/BA in business administration manufacturing or related field preferred
Experience in management and development with staff of over 50
Experience in a second or third shift operation required.
Experience and/or certifications with HAACP or SQF beneficial
Bilingual in either Spanish or Swahili a plus
Ability to work weekends as needed
Work Environment
Must be able to stand walk kneel and bend for extended periods of time.
Occasionally required to balance or climb.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in warm cold and wet environments
