Job description

An excellent opportunity for an experienced paralegal to provide support to a team specialising in criminal defence and professional disciplinary law. The successful applicant will assist a partner and three qualified lawyers. The role will entail responsibility for the administration of the department as well the provision of paralegal support.

Applicants must have experience of working as a paralegal and a real interest in the area of law. They should be accomplished communicators; equally adept verbally in person/on the telephone and at drafting correspondence. They must be able to conduct effective legal research and have firstrate note taking skills. They should have a meticulous attention to detail strong organisational skills a proactive approach to their work and a can do attitude.

The role will involve:

  • Attending meetings and court hearings
  • Assisting in the drafting of legal documents
  • Preparing bundles
  • Lodging documents at court
  • Legal research
  • Factual research
  • Proof reading
  • Drafting
  • Researching and drafting legal blogs and updates
  • Preparation of invoices and processing of client transactions
  • Ad hoc administrative tasks (including supporting the smooth operation of the office).
The successful candidate

It is essential that applicants have excellent IT skills and be proficient in using the advance features of Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF (including tracking documents mail merge creating formulas on Excel and editing and signing PDF documents)
