We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Richardson TX with analog and digital design experience. The Senior Electrical Engineer is a senior position responsible for clean sheet and upgrade electronic solutions across a Circuit Card Assembly. In addition to being cognizant of an individual circuit card design the Senior Electrical Engineer will mentor less experienced engineers with various backgrounds in circuit card and firmware design providing guidance and support. Products are typically required to comply with various MIL standards including MILSTD461. This opportunity is targeted toward engineers who enjoy working in a systems environment as it includes designing multiple electrical elements of a product; interacting with mechanical and software team members; developing PCB and system requirements; and supporting system test teams.

What You Will Do

• Researches develops design fabrication modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus components or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices ensuing work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
• Prepares engineering drawings or specifications to construct relocate or install equipment facilities products or systems.
• Prepares documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software information on product development introduction schedules product costs and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.
• Performs engineering work and applied research development and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met
• Produces products according to specifications using the most cost effective and efficient means.
• Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic components.
• Includes power generation transmission and distribution rotating machinery illumination wire communication systems and servomechanisms.
• Includes circuit theory computer design and development instrumentation radio communications semiconductor devices solid state devices and video systems.
• Mentor newer engineers in design and development practices.
• Some domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree 9 years of relevant experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.government issued security clearance is required
• U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S citizensare eligible for a security clearance
• Candidateselected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
• Good communication skills and the ability to tailor to audience at all levels

Qualifications We Prefer

• Active DoD security clearance
• Experience with preCAD circuit design including schematic capture power FPGA resource utilization background knowledge of PWB stacks ups
• Experience in industry design tools i.e. Xpedition Enterprise Cadence Allegro etc.
• Experience with mixed signal design. One or more of the following: SoC/FPGAs A/D Converters Digital Down Converters D/A Converters Digital Waveform Generators Mixed Signal CCAs Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
• Experience with digital hardware design. One or more of the following:Subsystem/Module Digital Circuits FPGA/ASICs COTS Interfaces Subsystem Development VME/PCI interfaces Digital Systems System Trades Architecture Embedded Processing
• Familiarity with signal integrity best practices and ability to coordinate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to provide and/or source the needed inputs for subject matter experts to run models
• Electronics design with recent experience in 3U VPX and/or SOSA hardware
• Understanding of backplane topologies slot and module profiles of 3U VPX card sets
• 5 years experience developing products and systems.
• Experience in designing digital and analog products including microprocessor systems lowpower supplies communication subsystems.
• Experience with signal integrity and designing for high speed designs.
• TEMPEST design experience
• Working knowledge of EMI/EMC standards for military applications.
• Experience designing for Military Aircraft applications.
• Experience using ALM tools including Jira and Confluence
• Experience working with industry standard toolsets for requirement capture and task management (e.g. DOORs Microsoft Project)
• Experience in developing test procedures and test fixtures.
• Ability to read create and review engineering drawings including schematics assembly drawings and parts lists.
• Experience interfacing to RF circuitry and high speed A/D D/A conversion
• Experience with implementation of high speed backplanes.
• Experience with Siemens Xpedition tool suite
• Proven analytical skills using in circuit simulation (Matlab LT Spice)
• Knowledge of firmware development design and test using suitable toolsets (Xilinx Vivado ModelSim)
• Experience with CAM (Cost Account Management) duties.

The salary range for this role is 82000 USD 164000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
