Radiographer Job Description
Overview
The Radiographer plays a crucial role in the Paramedical College tasked with preparing and performing radiographic examinations to assist in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. This role is essential for ensuring that students receive the proper training and handson experience necessary for effective patient care in their future careers. Radiographers utilize advanced imaging technology while adhering to safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of both patients and themselves. The Radiographer will work closely with students providing guidance and mentorship as they learn the intricacies of radiography. This position demands a combination of technical skills attention to detail and a compassionate approach to patient care. By maintaining the highest standards of radiological practices and contributing to an educational environment the Radiographer helps shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic examinations on patients as per established protocols.
- Operate imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and imaging results.
- Assist in teaching students the principles of radiography.
- Monitor and manage radiation exposure according to regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff for optimal patient care.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures explaining processes and answering questions.
- Evaluate images for quality and seek corrective actions if necessary.
- Participate in quality assurance and control programs.
- Keep abreast of developments in radiographic technology and practices.
- Provide emergency care as needed during imaging procedures.
- Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities ensuring all are in working order.
- Document and report any issues or incidents in imaging procedures.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training.
Required Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Current certification with relevant regulatory bodies (e.g. ARRT or equivalent).
- Handson experience in a clinical radiography setting.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and equipment operation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to engage in continuous education and training.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Experience in teaching or training students is a plus.
- Proficiency in using computer software for imaging and recordkeeping.
- Adaptability to changing technologies and practices in radiography.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and provide calm support to patients.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Previous experience in an educational setting is advantageous.
