Nalanda Vidyaniketan School is looking for a compassionate and skilled Parent Counsellor to join our team. The Parent Counsellor will serve as a key support figure for parents helping them navigate the challenges of parenting understanding their childs academic and emotional needs and fostering a strong partnership between the school and home. This role requires excellent communication skills empathy and a deep understanding of child development and family dynamics.
Parent Support: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to parents addressing concerns related to their childs academic emotional and social development.
Workshops and Seminars: Organize and conduct workshops and seminars on parenting strategies child development and effective communication between parents and children.
Liaison Between School and Home: Act as a bridge between the school and families ensuring that parents are wellinformed about their childs progress and any challenges they may face.
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and guidance to families during crises such as behavioral issues academic difficulties or familyrelated problems.
Resource Provision: Offer resources and referrals to external support services when needed including psychologists special educators and family therapists.
Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teachers counselors and administrators to develop strategies that support the wellbeing and success of students.
Parental Involvement: Encourage and facilitate active parental involvement in school activities and programs fostering a strong school community.
Confidentiality Maintenance: Ensure all interactions with parents and students are handled with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage and support parents from diverse backgrounds.
Empathy and Patience: A compassionate approach with the ability to understand and address the concerns and emotions of parents.
Knowledge of Child Development: A deep understanding of child development family dynamics and parenting challenges.
Experience in Counseling: Prior experience in counseling social work or a related field preferably with a focus on children and families.
ProblemSolving Skills: Ability to assess situations and develop effective solutions collaboratively with parents and school staff.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple cases and conduct workshops and seminars.
Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work effectively with families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
