Laboratory Research Technician III

***This position requires an active Secret clearance. ***

Provide support with laboratory experiments in BSL2 BSL3 and BSL4 laboratories and thus must hold and maintain BPRP status IAW the provisions in this contract and applicable regulations. Aid in the of scientific studies basic cell culture and plaque assays polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and other assays animal procedures collection/data analyzing and maintaining laboratory and laboratory equipment.

Estimated Starting Salary Range forLaboratory Technician III Research Technical Support: $70000 $75000/ year

Laboratory Technician III Research Technical Support Responsibilities Include:

• Supports small and large animal studies in BSL2 BSL3 and BSL4 laboratories.
• Performs inoculations with virus vaccine or applicable testing material.
• Collects tissues for processing and conducts blood sample collection.
• Performs in vitro testing of candidate vaccines and therapeutic compounds against a variety of viruses.
• Prepares cell culture media and other study supplies including paperwork as necessary.
• Performs immunological procedures including enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western Blot assays.
• Performs basic cell culture plaque assays (PA) plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT) PCR and other assays to support NHP and rodent studies.
• Performs basic lab management duties such as assessing maintaining and ordering lab supplies.
• Assists with the annual conduct of Equipment Inventory Management in BSL2 and BSL3.
• May serve as a BSL2 mentor.
• Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Laboratory Technician III Research Technical Support Experience Education Skills Abilities requested:

• Bachelors degree or the equivalent in Molecular Biology Microbiology Biochemistry Immunology Biology or a related field and 1 years lab experience.
• Skilled with basic Molecular Biology Assays: ELISA Western Blot Plaque Assays PRNT assays PCR etc.
• Skilled with animal handling for large and small animals including NHPs and rodents.
• Ability to perform animal inoculations blood and tissue collection and sample processing.
• Working knowledge/ability to learn GFEBs ordering system.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a highpaced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Prior experience in BSL2 BSL3 and BSL4 biocontainment labs is preferred.
• Must have an active Secret Clearance.
• Ability to pass a US Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for participation in the BPRP.
• US citizenship.
• Must pass preemployment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
