The Technical Expert Steering Mechatronics Verification & Validation is responsible for leading HardwareIntheLoop(HIL) bench testing development and deployment for HeavyDuty Electric Power Steering(HDEPAS) Electric Power Assisted Steering(EPAS) and SteerbyWire(SbW). These electromechanical systems are Integrated Systems Products that interface with the human driver or ADAS to control the vehicles lateral steering motion and give the driver optimal haptic steering wheel torque feedback.



Responsibilities

In this position...

  • Lead HardwareintheLoop(HIL) test stands and HIL strategy for 48V HeavyDuty Electric Power Steering(HDEPAS) Electric Power Assisted Steering(EPAS) and SteerbyWire(SbW) including for the Handwheel Actuator and Roadwheel Actuator.
  • Develop HIL Test Stand design budgeting and Capital Project procurement plan to support HDEPAS EPAS and SbW.
  • Spearhead overall Steering HIL effort guiding a team of Mechatronic engineers to develop HIL tests to validate Functional Requirements Mechatronic Operation Requirement and Robustness Stress testing (including hardware/software interactions).
  • Consider vehicle mechanical electrical EMC Functional Software System and Safety requirements when developing test cases including hardware/software systems design.
  • Seek opportunities to move validation from the vehicle to the bench and improve the overall validation quality.

What youll do

  • Support vehicle preproduction and production quality issues including HIL test replication root cause analysis and ICA/PCA validation.
  • Develop test stand software automation for Test Scripts and Test result reporting ensuring Test cases and scripts are documented in Test Methods.
  • Collaborate with other Technical Experts Subject Matter Experts and HIL engineers to deploy the Steering HIL test strategy including growing global capability in FOM.
  • Analyze and report test case coverage of Functional and Mechatronic/EE requirements striving to achieve 100 test coverage over time.
  • Design build validate and document HIL I/O circuits and wiring harnesses to interface HIL simulator to electronic control units and subsystem sensors and actuators.
  • Design implement validate and document Matlab/Simulink/Canoe models for interfacing to HIL system hardware and communication networks simulating the vehicle environment.
  • Develop 48V Test plan to support testing 48V Steering Systems.
  • Ensure the HIL Test benches meet all safety requirements for safe operation.
  • Support vehicle prototype and production quality issues including HIL test replication root cause analysis and ICA/PCA validation.
  • Lead team to develop program HIL test plans based on catalog of released test plans to support FDJ signoff and new System/SW releases.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure supplier testing meets Ford expectations for Supplier HIL testing > Validate the Supplier Validation.
  • Identify Requirement issues during test case creation and provide feedback to requirement owners.
  • Ensure timely reporting of issues to Application teams. Support supplier issue replication.
  • Manage HIL Test Bench Licenses renewal. Ensure appropriate HIL test Bench Maintenance plan.
  • Support Technical Design Reviews as appropriate to confirm correct Test Method .
  • Collaborate with Steering Controls Motion and other teams in Ford as needed to optimize Ford success.
  • Coach mentor and train engineers and colleagues.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • BS Engineering Mechanical Electrical Computer Engineering or strongly related.
  • 10 years of safety critical Automotive design experience or related Industry experience with 6 years of steering experience and 3 years of HIL testing.
  • Thorough understanding of steering technology system design and requirements.
  • Advanced problemsolving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills passion for quality passion for customer inherent selfstarter with strong drive for results.
  • High technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships achieve cooperation and influence priorities of technical experts and other key partners.
  • Ability to manage/resolve simultaneous challenging complex technical issues.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects issue resolution and management reviews.
  • Experience with Steering/Vehicle Dynamics and vehicle testing.
  • Experience with CAN Networks ECU Calibration CAN and ECU data logging including CANape/CANalyzer/CANoe.
  • Experience with developing test scripts to automate HIL testing.
  • Experience data acquisition with force torque transducers and voltage/current measurements.
  • Experience with Mechatronics system testing including torque and force system test interfaces.
  • Experience in FEDE Requirement and Test Method creation.
  • Experience with ISO14229 Diagnostics UDS Protocol and Programming.

  • MS Engineering Mechanical Electrical Computer Engineering or strongly related.
  • Experience developing HIL test benches test cases from requirements and test case implementation.
  • Experience with Electromechanical Embedded systems.
  • Knowledgeable in GPDS and GTDS.
  • Knowledgeable in the ISO26262 Functional Safety Standard and requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in DFMEA development analysis and Prevent and Detection.
  • Action development.
  • Knowledgeable in Safety Standards.
  • Knowledgeable in FEDE JAMA Doors or Similar.
