Make an impact at Serco
As a Medical Officer youll make a positive impact by:
- You will be responsible for delivery of primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards legislation and Defence Policies and Procedures.
- You will form part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.
- You will play an integral role in assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and in the provision of care that will support the health and welling of members pre and post deployments.
- You will be required to provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO) Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units.
- You will be supported by a Team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues.
- You may be required to provide the services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.
About ADF Health Services
In partnership with Bupa our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.
This includes providing defenceready clinical and support staff across 45 onbase locations ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality onsite medical care.
About Robertson
Robertson Health Centre is located on Robertson Barracks in Holtze 15km east of Darwin. It is home to the 1st Brigade & 1st Aviation Regiment. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2800 members with a large reserve component. The Barracks also accommodates an additional 2500 US marines every 6 months from May to September. The health centre provides primary medical aviation medical nursing pharmaceutical dental physiotherapy and mental health services. It also operates a 22bed low dependency ward 24/7. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 15:30 Monday Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and oncall shifts).

You are an experienced medical professional with solid foundations as a General Practitioner. Your passion for providing the highest quality medical services is at the heart of everything you do. You have a friendly and professional manner which automatically puts patients at ease and you take pride in your ability to inspire trust from both your patients and colleagues alike. You are a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do. You are passionate about providing clinical services and working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support delivery of the highest standard of care to patients.
To be successful in this role youll have:
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
- Minimum of 2 years fulltime post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or parttime equivalent).
- Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009 certification.
Please note:
- You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
- You dont need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian onbase and your job stays here even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
