Job Description
Harlem Childrens Zone (HCZ) a worldrenowned education and povertyfighting organization based in New York seeks an enthusiastic dedicated and mission aligned Health Educator to support the families of our Early Head Start children.
The Health Educator will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Childrens Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive ontheground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school work and life.
The Health Educator will join our team that is dedicated to implementing Healthy Harlem programming at respective sites and report to the health coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic energetic health educator that will facilitate family health workshops and programs for caregivers.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in health education nutrition or related field
Who you are
- Experience conducting health/nutrition assessments facilitating group and individual health counseling and implementing health education workshops
- Comfortable working in various urban settings and with diverse populations
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
- Teamoriented with strong organizational and collaborative skills
- Excellent group facilitation presentation skills and workshops
- Familiar with prenatal to toddler parent population
- Adapts well to changes in assignments and priorities with the ability to respond effectively to new information changing conditions and unexpected obstacles
What youll do
- Facilitate family health workshops and programs designed to empower parents and caregivers to make small changes in nutrition fitness and health
- Facilitate workshops and trainings for staff
- Participate in Health Advisory Committee meetings
- Build a culture of health and wellness at site
- Develop health related activities for staff including events challenges etc.
- Provide consistent motivation enthusiasm and role modeling for healthy lifestyle choices
- Offer oneonone goal setting sessions to families upon request
- Advocate healthier eating for families and staff
- Attend inhouse professional development trainings
Schedule
- GRADS Early Head Start site
- In person only: MONDAY FRIDAY 9 AM 1 PM
- Attend monthly Town Hall: first Wednesday of every month 111 p.m.
