Olympic College Olympic College seeks faculty who are dedicated to studentcentered learning and to fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of employing culturallyresponsive pedagogy utilizing disaggregated data to guide instruction and teaching and mentoring minoritized student populations. Olympic College enrolls a racially and socioeconomically diverse student body of approximately 10500 students annually.

A comprehensive community college we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma GED preparation and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees and community education in our twocounty region.

Olympic College is recruiting an adjunct faculty to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The position will be parttime Korean Language facultly teaching primarily Korean I Korean II and Korean III. This position requires instruction with a daytime availability between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:15 PM and evenings as required from 5:00 PM to 7:15 PM.

Essential Functions

  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation grading and record keeping;
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs;
  • Punctually communicate with students faculty staff and administrators;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career.

  • Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as military veterans.
  • Support diversity in higher education through application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voice as well as by contributing through actions.
  • Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission diversity and a learningcentered climate.
  • Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships.
  • Collaborate successfully with faculty staff and students as part of an educational team.
  • Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services including use of the Collegeapproved learning management system.
  • Uphold Olympic Colleges values and ethics necessary to maintain a positive climate.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Korean Language or directly related area from an accredited college or university.
  • Teaching experience
  • Must be available to teach during the day.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Korean
  • College teaching experience

Terms of Employment

Faculty members must submit official unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses and offcampus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarterbyquarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Applying does not guarantee that a position will be available or offered.
Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a fulltime load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement. The list of benefits that may be available after is as follows.
